Mamma Don't Take My Kodachrome...

One of my all-time favorite films, Kodachrome is officially dead. Announced this morning, Kodak will cease to produce the legendary film, which has been around for some 74 years! I guess those “nice bright colors” just aren’t nice enough anymore.

Kodachrome was certainly one of the first films I really fell in love with. It had such a specific characteristic about it that made it really appealing to me as a budding photographer. At one point I remember reading about a new checmical process that was aimed at bringing Kodachrome back to the fore, but I guess it never panned out--too bad. I will really miss you, Kodachrome.

The gallery at right was created by searching the term “kodachrome” at flickr.com.

With the recent announcement of the new iPhone 3GS I am really curious to see how this whole video blogging trend takes off. Will we see video-tweets? I haven't seen much in the way of video samples from the iPhone as of yet, but I hear it's pretty nice. I know, not 720p HD, but still, it's a phone!

Regardless of how good or bad the iPhone video quality will turn out to be, I am sure it will spawn a new community of video-bloggers. People will have this thing wherever they go, and probably some type of ability to upload video to Flickr.com and other photo/video sharing websites.

The New Site!

As you may have noticed, I have a new site up and running. Unfortunately, I had to can the old RSS feed, so be sure to grab the new one. There is the link at the top of these blog pages, or if you are in Safari you can just click RSS in the URL bar.

The site is pretty sparse at the moment, but I promise, I am going to be transferring some of the old content over in the weeks to come, as well as adding new stuff throughout the site.

My main goal with this new site is to create a place to showcase and talk about all of the current work I am doing. This has changed pretty dramatically in the last few years. I am no longer thinking of myself as a "photojournalist."  The name really just doesn't fit. These days I have been more of an "electronic media artist." I'm not sure I like the sound of that either, so if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear about them.

Instead of just showing off my images, I plan to display documentation of some of the installation art projects I have done, as well as more info about the programming projects I am working on. There is quite a bit to discuss, so please keep posted in the weeks to come!

"What Happened?"

Yes it’s true. I have been pretty busy the last several days. I am in the midst of preparing my presentation for my final critique which will take place Tuesday night. I am sort of sitting on a bunch of material that I am planning to show off in critique, so once that happens, I will be sure to share it here.

I stumbled upon something that at the time I thought had great potential, and now I am revisiting this thing and making use of it. I am very VERY excited about the possibilities and the direction it is going in, so be sure to check back next week when I post my findings.
