The future of Chat-CLI

Lately I have been thinking about what’s next for Chat-CLI. It started as a way for me to kick the tires on Amazon Bedrock, back when Bedrock was in public preview mode. It wound up being a way to learn a little more about the Go programming language, and eventually wound up being a pretty fun teaching tool and demo program at work.

Now, I am thinking of making it something even more. Lately, I’ve been interested in Terminal User Interfaces. One of my favorites is terminal.shop, where you can ssh to a server to order custom bags of coffee, right from your terminal. It’s a really nice demonstration of what is possible outside the realm of a web browser.

terminal.shop appears to be build with libraries from charm.sh, which I am also very eager to experiment with.

So, I was thinking to maybe create a TUI version of chat-cli, where anyone could ssh to a server, and chat with LLMs on Amazon Bedrock, right from their terminal. That might be fun, but it also means one very big difference, which is that I’d have to manage the Amazon Bedrock bill somehow!

Well, I can’t really do much until I buy a domain name, right?
