My little Mastodon server had its first office outage today. All the sudden I was t able to load new posts. I took a look at the dashboard I created in the AWS console and immediately noticed that CPU and Memory was pegged.

Of course, it was pegged just a little lower than where my alert threshold was set so I never got any alerts.

No idea what caused it to run out of resources yet.

Lessons learned: start with a lower alerting threshold, and set up a better health check.
